Rocket Solitaire

Classic Klondike solitaire: draw one or draw three, standard scoring, undo and auto-finish. Free, no account.

What is Rocket Solitaire?

Rocket Solitaire is Klondike, the solitaire everyone knows: seven columns, a stock, four foundations, and the goal of building every suit from ace to king. Play draw-one for a relaxed game or draw-three for the classic challenge, with the scoring system most people grew up with: ten points for each card to a foundation, five for a card from the waste to a column, five for turning a card face up, and a time bonus when you win.

It's an original implementation built for touch and mouse: drag cards or tap a card and then its destination, double-tap to send a card to its foundation, undo as much as you like, and let auto-finish clear the board once everything is face up.

How to play Rocket Solitaire

  1. Move face-up cards between columns in descending order and alternating colours: a red six on a black seven.
  2. Only a king (or a run starting with a king) can be placed in an empty column.
  3. Click the stock to turn cards into the waste; the top waste card can be played. When the stock is empty, click it to recycle the waste.
  4. Move aces to the foundations and build each suit upward to the king.
  5. Win when all four foundations are complete. Double-tap any card to send it to its foundation when possible.

Rocket Solitaire tips and strategy

  • Turn over face-down cards whenever you can; they're the only real obstacle.
  • Prefer moves that free a card from the longest column of face-down cards.
  • Don't empty a column without a king to put in it.
  • Keep low cards on the tableau while they can still help you move other cards; the foundation can wait.
  • In draw-three, note the order of cards coming off the stock and plan a move that changes which card lands on top next pass.

Scoring in Rocket Solitaire

Standard scoring: +10 for any card moved to a foundation, +5 for a card moved from the waste to a column, +5 for turning a column card face up, and −15 for moving a card from a foundation back to a column. Recycling the stock costs 100 in draw-one and 20 per pass from the fourth pass in draw-three. On a win, a time bonus of 700,000 divided by your seconds is added, so faster games score far more.

Draw one vs draw three

Draw-one is forgiving and almost always winnable. Draw-three only gives you every third card unless you change the order by playing from the waste, which turns the stock into a puzzle of its own. Switch at any time with the Draw 3 toggle; it starts a new deal.
